Teen vaping has become a serious health issue in the United States. According to the annual National Youth Tobacco Survey, more than 1 in 4 youth use e-cigarettes daily and almost 9 out of 10 use flavored e-cigarettes. At the middle school level, tobacco use increased from 4.5% in 2022 to 6.6% in 2023.
Vaping is highly addictive. Recognizing the serious health risks vaping poses and the increased use of vapes within our middle and high school students, Wilson Area School District is proud to announce a Vaping Awareness Campaign beginning April 2024. Our goal is to foster understanding and provide education to the students and families of the district regarding the risks associated with vaping.
Students who are struggling with addiction have the opportunity to reach out to their school counselor to get connected with available resources. In addition, we will share facts, videos, and link resources on this site. Parents, guardians, and family members play a pivotal role in deterring vaping. Your partnership is essential to tackling this issue.
