The Avona Elementary School PTA has been serving
Avona students for over 50 years! The Avona PTA was founded in 1954. We
are a member of the Northampton County Council, Region 1, District 2 of
the Pennsylvania State PTA and the National PTA.
The PTA is governed by an Executive Board which is currently comprised of six Executive Officers and
a varying number of Executive
Committee Members. You can view the board and committee members on
the Board page. Some members may hold multiple
positions between the board and committees. Please consider
volunteering with the PTA.
- To support and speak on behalf of children and
youth in the schools and before governmental agencies and other
organizations that make decisions affecting children;
- To assist parents in developing the skills they
need to raise and protect their children; and
- To encourage parent and public involvement in the
public schools of this state.
- To promote the welfare of children and youth in
home, school, community, and place of worship.
- To raise the standards of home life.
- To secure adequate laws for the care and
protection of children and youth.
- To bring into closer relation the home and the
school, that parents and teachers may cooperate intelligently in the
education of children and youth.
- To develop between educators and the general public such united
efforts as will secure for all children and youth the highest advantages
in physical, mental, social, and spiritual education.
The PTA also helps raise money for other non profit
charities including:
-
Organize and run the
Mitten Tree which benefits the Third Street Alliance in Easton. This
takes place during the December holiday season.
-
The PTA assists with the Jump Rope For Heart
event which benefits
The American Heart Association.
The PTA also creates the Avona Year Book and has a
T-Shirt Sale for the students to promote school spirit. These events do not earn the PTA any
money towards it's other activities. They are run for the students
benefit and are priced to break even.
