Home of the All Stars All meetings are open to the public and we provide free babysitting for several meetings. As a member, you can vote on how the PTA funds are spent, what programs the PTA offers, what fundraisers we use, and the election of officers!  BE A SUPERSTAR!! There is no better way to know what is happening at Avona. Parenting is not easy--it helps to share ideas, concerns and experiences with other parents and educators. PTA is a forum for exchanging ideas where you are encouraged to make suggestions. By getting involved at your child’s school, you will be part of the solution, helping to make positive suggestions. It could also be an opportunity to put your skills and hobbies to good use for a good cause. PTA plays an important role in fundraising to provide building improvements, curriculum based programs and social events which are all vital to our school’s success. To top it off (no pun intended) PTA will treat any of the classes that have at least 75% membership participation to an ice cream party with all the trimmings!  The National PTA has served students for over 100 years. Since its founding in 1897, the National PTA has prided itself on being a powerful voice for children’s education and health issues, a relevant resource for parents and a strong advocate for public education efforts. Their voice has been heard regarding such programs as hot lunch for all students, education for hearing impaired children, illiteracy, nutritional programs and parent involvement. Join us and 6.5 million other members in support of our most valuable resource…our children.   Membership drive ends October 20, 2006 Any questions please contact Deborah James by phone at (610) 559-8396, or email questions to padecoja@rcn.com  We invite all parents, grandparents and teachers to join the Avona Elementary PTA! Mitten Tree Drive underway December 9, 2006 The annual Mitten drive is almost at an end!  Please bring in those new mittens and hats before December 22nd.  For more information, please see the flyer that went home by clicking HERE.   Here is Your Chance to be a STAR– Join Avona’s PTA!  September 20, 2006 The Avona PTA is an enthusiastic and active organization dedicated to your children. For less then 3 cents a day, you can become part of a strong volunteer support group that benefits the children, faculty and the community of Avona. As a member, you have a voice!  PTA Membership drive is underway for the 2006/2007 school year.

Board Members Needed Now July 4, 2006 PTA is still in desperate need of committee chairpersons. Still available are Communications, Health & Safety, Science Fair and Webmaster. Co-chairs are needed for all positions. Also, Connie O’Neill our treasurer for the past nine years, will be moving on next year with her daughter to middle school. The PTA is in need of a Treasurer to shadow Connie this year and learn the procedures so they can take over for the following 2007/2008 school year.
