Avona PTA Web Site Launch Contest Rules

The Avona PTA Web Site was officially launched on April 5, 2005 after two months of tuning.

The PTA is running a contest to celebrate the launch of the Avona PTA web site! This contest will help raise awareness of this new resource! There will be two $25 gift cards awarded for Waldenbooks, one to a student and one to a faculty member. If you do not have access to a computer, ask a friend or relative. Public libraries also have computers. The website URL is: http://www.wilsonareasd.org/pta/avona.

How to win

Just count all the stars on the Avona PTA Web site. ALL stars count. That is every instance of a star counts. There are several styles and colors of stars. Many are repeated throughout the site. A star picture used 10 times throughout the site counts toward 10 stars in the total.

Pages used to tally the number of stars do NOT include pages on other sites linked to the Avona PTA site, such as the Avona School site. Avona PTA pages can be easily identified several ways:

ü All pages have the Blue & Gold Avona All Star banner with the 3 stars and a bouncing bus picture.

ü All pages have a ruled spiral notebook paper background.

ü The Page URL begins with "http://www.wilsonareasd.org/pta/Avona/"

How to submit your entry

• Entries must be submitted by e-mail to “AvonaPTAWebMaster@yahoo.com”, no exceptions.
• Your entry must be time stamped no earlier than Wednesday April 7^th at 5:00 PM.
• The Subject line must read "### stars found" with ### being your entry.
• The e-mail body must have your name and your teachers name (unless you are a teacher of course).

A sample e-mail sent should look like this: (999 is NOT the correct answer)

• The time stamp on the e-mail received will be used to determine the submission time.
• Only one submission per student or faculty member allowed.
• Contest ends Monday April 12^th at 7:00 PM sharply.
• In the event of a tie, the first correct (or closest) entry received wins.
• The winners will be announced in school Tuesday, April 13^th.

Tips & Tricks

Hint #1: Here's a head start! There are three stars in the banner of every page. Therefore, each page has at least three stars. Most have more.

Hint #2: Stars may be used in pictures, as bullets, punctuation, and borders and randomly placed. There are no exceptions. Every star counts toward the total.

Hint #3: While e-mail is normally fast, it can be delayed by mail servers that are busy scanning for viruses and SPAM. Please don't wait till the last minute. Send your e-mail submission as early as possible.

Hint #4: Do not start counting before 5pm on Wednesday April 7^th! New pages will be posted just prior to 5pm on this day. Most, if not every page will have a change made to the number of stars on it.

Only the WebMaster knows the answer. You can ask the PTA members for the answer, but please don't believe them! They are only guessing as I will not tell them or my family the answer.
