PTA Sponsored School Assemblies 2005-06

These are the assemblies our students have seen in the 2005-06 school year.

Last Day Assembly

The Avona PTA has booked the Harlem Wizards, one of the greatest basketball show-team organizations available to perform at the last day assembly on June 6^th at 2 PM. More info on the Wizards can be found at www.HarlemWizards.com.

The PTA also rented a Dunk Tank! Students will get a chance to dunk a select few volunteer staff members. Luckily the weather looks good, temperature in the mid 70's under partly cloudy skies. Thank you brave teachers & staff! 

The PTA will once again purchase Burger King and Rita's Italian Ice for students. Popcorn will also be made fresh throughout the day. 

The Franklin Institute presents Motion and Machines

Date:	March 31st
Time:	Grades K - 5 @ 10:00 AM
Program:	Motion and Machines Roll, slide and spin! Investigate the basic physics of motion in this interactive show. We’ll use rubber balls, bricks and wooden blocks to introduce Newton’s Laws of Motion. Then witness these laws in action in a lever, pulley, and student-driven hover car. Science concepts: Newton’s Laws of Motion, simple machines, friction

The Hampstead Stage Company presents "A Christmas Carol"

Date:	December 21st	The Hampstead Players, Inc. From Barnstead, NH
Time:	All Grades @ 9:15 AM
Play:	Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol" is a story that is both timeless and universal. In this adaptation, the palyers have tried to keep very much to the original in both message and form. It is a charming and heart warming story, a far cry from the commercialism that has, in recent years, gone hand-in-hand with Christmas.

Office Phil

Date:	November 10th
Time:	All Grades during school
	The Kindergarten through fourth grade students received a visit from Officer Phil.

The Philadelphia Zoo presents Winter Wonderland

Date:	October 27th
Time:	Kindergarten @ 11:15 AM
	Grades 1 - 5 @ 10:00 AM

The Visit:	The kids truly enjoyed their experience seeing all the different animals of winter. A rabbit, a duck, a snake and a red tailed hawk were among the animals the students saw that day. Thanks to all your support, yet another educational experience was had by all.
