FROM THE PRINCIPAL'S DESK
I would like to extend a warm welcome to all students and parents as we return for the 2009-2010 school year at Wilson Borough Elementary School. Our goal at Wilson Elementary is two fold, academic excellence and character development. To maximize a student's potential to this end, it truly takes a team effort.
Parents, teachers and administrators must work together to meet the varying needs of our students. The only way for this to be realized is through communication. While today's world offers us little time for relaxation, the most precious investment we can make is time to our children. Communicate your concerns to us about your child, talk to your children at home. The investment made today in your child's future will pay dividends for a lifetime.
Below are suggestions to help your child start off the school year on a positive note:
Use routines. Morning, bedtime and study routines are especially key to school success.
Have high expectations. Tell your child that he/she doesn't always have to be the best, but he/she should do his/her best. Tell your child how proud you are of them.
Monitor your child's homework. Offer help, but don't do the work.
Read, read, read. Reading with your child is essential.
Support our school. Attend parent nights and volunteer in ways you'll enjoy. Show your child that school is a family priority.
I look forward to working with you in making the 2008-09 school year a successful one for our students.
Sincerely,
Tony Tarsi
